The Lodigiano covers an area of approximately 782 square kilometres, almost completely bordered by the right bank of the Adda River, the right bank of the Lambro and the left bank of the Po. The area is a succession of fields, irrigation ditches, trees and roads, towns and villages. The farmstead is a feature of the agricultural landscape and constitutes the heart of the farming system.

The area is also distinguished by a special relationship with the nature that surrounds it, having a wealth of parks, reserves and natural oases that are unique of their kind, some of them designated as SCI – Sites of Community Importance.
